To Think is to Make or Break

I have been journaling along time; most mornings I fill my A5 notebook with scripture, and what I am thinking of. It helps me to organise my thoughts, connecting scripture that I have read before, and it reinforces the Truth of the Bible so that I can begin to think and speak about things according to God’s will.

The mind that is moulded to its environment will take you down a path of confusion, guilt, and torment. The mind, is what I would say, the most important thing to guard, nurture, and renew. Depending on where you are keeping your thoughts, it will lead your heart down avenues that can either make you or break you; your home goes along with you.

For a mom to take care of her family, she must take care of her mind. There is no question about it. If you don’t take your thoughts captive, it will capture and crush you. To take care of our mind we must keep it out of the trash and hopelessness of the world, and shift it to things above; these things are that that are true, right, pure and beautiful. Depending on what we think, see, and learn about, beliefs and emotions are filtering into our heart all the time, and from the heart flows the issues of life. Our heart determines the course of our life, so if filled with deceit, confusion, guilt, bitterness, and other darkness, that will be the course of our life, and vice versa. I learned the hard way that the Word of God is my anchor; it keeps me stable and on course, not tossed to and fro as on a stormy sea.

It is a learning process of setting your face like a flint, and not accepting anything other than what the Word says.

So, as I keep writing, my hope is that it will not only help me but help you to keep your focus in the Word, and let it guide your path and brighten your home.

Philippians 4:8 Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Colossians 3: 2-4 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

Proverbs 4: 20-27 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them.Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.
