Am I in God’s Will?

My thoughts this week were about being in the will of God. As I am pondering about this, I am aware that most of us who desire to be in His will are well meaning, however end up striving and toiling. Toiling has its source in the curse, but we were freed from this curse when Jesus went to the cross.

So, as I woke up one morning with this weight of “Am I in His will?” and “How do I be in His will?’ the Lord began forming His thoughts in my mind. I knew it was His because of how the weight lifted, and a stream of hope filled my heart. I began thinking about how He made me the righteousness of Christ through the cross alone and not of my own ability. He did not wait for me to have it all together before I could come to Him, instead I had to come to Him despite my condition, or else I had no hope of being saved. I could not change me even under the weight of so many expectations.

I learnt that my identity was Him alone and not in my faults. I had to learn to look at His Word like a mirror; what I see in Christ is what He sees in me, because it is a gift- His righteousness, not my own. What a gift, too good to reject!

In the same way that His righteousness is freely mine, and how I need to hold onto it and not get into the toil of ‘fixing’ my own crown which only leads to death, so He is always PRESENT! His presence- a free gift- just as righteousness, includes His presence. Therefore. I do not have to toil and strive to have His presence, instead it is through the suffering of His cross alone that He now lives within us. Then He went further to that not only is He within us, but He will NEVER leave nor forsake us. So, just as He is present right now according to His mercies, so is His WILL! We can conclude that where He is, that is right HERE, so is His will, you cannot separate them. Just as His presence is with me, so is His will. That is the faith that He desires, therefore I keep declaring that I am in His will because HE IS WITH ME. I hope this makes sense!

So, being in His will does not rest on me BUT who He is.

In fact, He is more concerned about our faith in Him, than us having it all together (walking perfectly in His will). For when we are living from a place of faith of who He says we ARE (the Rest) and not us trying to do, then we will begin to walk in His will more by accident than on purpose (stole that little bit from Andrew Wommack)! In other words, we do not walk in His will by trying, but rather in praise and thanksgiving for His Gift of righteousness (which includes His presence, His will, and even His blessings). So, when we do not ‘see’ perfection or clarity we need, in the flesh, God is saying have faith that you ARE His righteousness, you ARE in His will, and you ARE blessed!

Just decide “yes” even if you do not feel or see it.

However, if we TRY to do His will, we will begin to work the flesh, but when we accept that we are in His will, all glory to Him whose presence never leaves us, then all the weights of performance and toil leaves, because walking in His will rests on His goodness and not ours!

If this made sense to you, begin today to change your confession by looking away from yourself- your heavy condition and faults, and fix your eyes to His image- that now reflects in your face! It was a hefty price to not accept such a beautiful gift!
