Father’s Day Craft Ideas- On This Rock!

(Please note that all images are for idea & decorative purposes only)

1. “On This Rock” Stone Craft

Craft: Paint small rocks with messages or decorate a large flat rock with paint pens.

How-To:

  • Write “On this rock our house is built – Dad!” on the center rock.
  • Kids can paint hearts, crosses, or their handprints around the message.
  • Optional: Glue rocks together into a mini “altar” or stack them in a small wooden box labeled “Dad’s Strength Stones.”

Scripture:

“Upon this rock I will build my church…” – Matthew 16:18
“The wise man built his house on the rock…” – Matthew 7:24

2. “Builder Dad” Toolbox Card

Craft: Create a cardstock “toolbox” that reveals “tools” made from paper, each labeled with a virtue (e.g., faith, love, patience).

How-To:
Use 2 A4 pages (cardstock) of the same colour for the box, but cut 1 page in half.
Take another colour of card and trim about a centimetre off each side.
Glue the trimmed card in the middle of the full A4 page, and keep the half page aside.
Inside the toolbox, glue the cut-out paper tools (templates are included in the download).

Each tool can have a verse for example:
Hammer = Strength – Philippians 4:3 (I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.)
Saw = Wisdom – James 1:5 (If any of you lack wisdom, let Him ask God, who gives generously without reproach, and it will be given to him.)
Spanner = Patience – Galatians 6:9 (Let us not become weary in doing good.)
Tape Measure = Joy – James 1:2-4 (Count it all joy, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

Write a message on the half page of card, like: “Dad, you build our home with God’s tools!” Apply a strip of glue at the very bottom of the box, and stick the half page (with your message facing outside) so that it flips open and closed.

Scripture:
“By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established.” – Proverbs 24:3

3. “Rock Solid Dad” T-Shirt Art

Craft: Use fabric markers or paints to decorate a plain white T-shirt with a bold rock graphic and the message:
“My Dad is Rock Solid!” / “Rock Solid Dad”- On Christ the Solid Rock I stand- Psalm 62:6

Ideas to Add:

  • Children’s handprints (paint)
  • Verse around the neckline or sleeves instead

Scripture:

“He alone is my rock and my salvation…” – Psalm 62:6

4. “Godly Legacy” Scroll Letter

Craft: A parchment-style scroll letter thanking Dad for his godly example.

How-To:

  • Use brown paper, roll and tie with twine.
  • Kids write or dictate messages like: “Thank you for leading us in truth.”

Ideas to Add:
“On this rock our house is built – Dad!” as the closing line.

Scripture:

“The righteous who walks in his integrity—blessed are his children after him!” – Proverbs 20:7

5. Family Handprint Rock Frame

Craft: Paint or trace the family’s handprints onto a piece of wood or cardstock and glue on stones around the edges like a frame.

Message:
“Built on the Rock – Our Family”
With “Dad” in the center.

Ideas to Add:
Vary an idea from the previous crafts and add it to this one.

Scripture:

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15

6. Chocolate Slab Wrappers

Craft: Customise a slab of chocolate with one of the included wrappers.

How-to:

  • Print to fit the page on plain or glossy photo paper (115gsm).
  • Cut out the wrappers. Place the wrapper face down (portrait position) and centre the slab of chocolate (80g) in the middle. Close the wrapper over the chocolate by folding the long sides of the paper to form a seam behind (it will not be centred), ensure that the image in front (now underneath) is centred!

Once it is positioned correctly, apply a thin strip of craft glue to close the seam. Once it is stuck, apply more craft glue on each end and press closed until it is stuck. If you have a crimper, crimp the ends for a finished look. Cut the edges with a serrated scissor (optional).

In the download there are 4 wrappers: 2 are black and white to colour in, and the other 2 are coloured prints. Ensure to sign a name on the scroll wrapper after the word “Love.”

BONUS: Coloring pages & Devotional
